THE SMALL SCROLLS ©SERIES are created by Liv dODINo first in 1984. At the beginning they consist in a number of watercolor paintings which poems are written on by hand. They are further printed also on paper in different sizes and include a large amount of literary and painting works.
At the beginning of summer 1984, Liv dODINo is around Europe with a motorbike-travelling exhibition to present her oil pictures with a great number of watercolours inspired to some of her pieces of poetry. The verses related to the paintings, written on sheets of parchment paper and slightly rolled up, some times are surrounded by printed or painted decorations and joined the canvas so that they have function of titles.
Thus The Rolled Up Poems were born. In a later exhibition including also some paintings inspired to biblical subjects, to the end of summer in the same year,dODINo handwrites the verses on the same sheets on which the watercolours are painted and they are presented rolled up like ancient rolls. The artist creates The Small Scrolls. Afterwards, this original union of painting and rolled up poetry is developed and takes different looks. The Scrolls spread especially in Europe and by now they form the distinctive sign of many among the poetic-pictorial works of their creator.
The Small Scrolls and The Rolled Up Poems take further shapes in time. You can often find them simply printed, with verses and images closed into a graphic frame.
In this form they offer you the chance to alternate and exchange one another the various works in different languages and dimensions. The Small Scrolls and The Rolled Up Poems are not easy to be collected in a book. Most of them are living and everchanging works.
